Has Ethereum reached its peak in development? The founder of Alliance DAO revealed that he has sold

Imran Khan and Qiao Wang, founders of Alliance DAO, compared the Base of the Ethereum ecosystem with the Solana ecosystem in the latest episode of the "On Consumer Crypto" podcast and shared their respective perspectives.

Sell ETH that has been held for ten years

Imran Khan It is pointed out that some developers who originally supported Base (Ethereum extension solution) are now turning to Solana for development, mainly because it is easier to acquire users on Solana.

Qiao Wang It is pointed out that for developers who are already accustomed to EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) development, it is difficult to build applications on Solana. They need to learn new tools and adjust the Rust language, which will take at least one to two months. But even so, they still feel it's worth it.

Afterwards, Qiao Wang further revealed that he had sold ETH that he had held for ten years last year:

By the way, the reason why I say this is because I have been holding ETH since the Ethereum genesis memory block... I sold it last year, but I held it for 10 years. Imagine holding an asset for 10 years and suddenly realizing, 'Damn it, maybe it's already over.'

User differences between Base and Solana ecosystems

In the following program, the two further discussed the differences in users between the Base and Solana ecosystems. Imran Khan pointed out that "degrees" (speculative players) on Solana seem more willing to try new applications, while Base users are more conservative. The term 'speculative' referred to here does not only mean that these people are traders who enjoy using trading apps, but also that these users are more open to new things and willing to try new products.

Imran Khan believes that this is to some extent related to culture.

Obviously, there is Coinbase behind Base, which makes its culture completely different from Solana. I think Base is more inclined towards an enterprise oriented and compliance oriented approach

But Imran Khan emphasized that the differences in the products themselves are also significant influencing factors:

Currently, there is no wallet in the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) ecosystem that can rival the Phantom (Solana Wallet). Of course, Phantom now also supports EVM, but it is still primarily based on Solana To be honest, it seems that Solana is almost a winner takes all situation now

Vitalik has changed, but it's too late

At the end of the show, Imran Khan and Qiao Wang also discussed Vitalik Buterin, the recently controversial co-founder of Ethereum.

Imran Khan believes that, Vitalik seems to be transitioning from a hardcore researcher focused on technical research to some kind of 'f-boy' KOL, and now back to 'Bronze Age Milady'.

Now, he is paying more attention to the community, which is a good signal. He seems to be accepting of user behavior patterns, which can actually be traced back to the topic we discussed before - Solana users are completely different from Base users

Imran Khan believes that, Vitalik Now choosing to turn to Milady meme culture and even using Milady to reply to others on Twitter shows that he is trying to integrate into the community. But Imran Khan and Qiao Wang believe that these actions may be too late now. Qiao Wang said:

If it were a year ago, I wouldn't have said 'it's too late,' but now I feel it's indeed too late
